Lima CPI Data Due, Las Bambas Unrest Continues

  • Local police and indigenous communities clashed at MMG’s Las Bambas copper mine Tuesday evening, said Alexander Anglas, a lawyer for the Huancuire community, in a phone interview.
    • Around 120 police officers arrived to Las Bambas to evict communities, Anglas said.
    • Las Bambas reported in a statement that workers and police tried to enter the mining camp peacefully to evacuate sludge from the wastewater treatment plant and that the Huancuire community reacted violently. (BBG)
  • Petroperu obtained bondholder consent to delay the delivery of its 2021 audited financial statements to September 2022, according to a statement from the state-owned company.
