FOREX: Little to pen re: the G10 space in early Asia trade.
- The highlight of the local UK press round probably comes from the notorious
tabloid, The Sun. The paper has suggested that "Boris Johnson has told Tory
rebels he is ready for "spears in my back" from party eurosceptics - in a sign
he will now try for a compromise Brexit deal." Such a push would likely re-open
wounds that were seen under Theresa May's tenure, as she failed to get the likes
of Jacob Rees-Mogg (an influential ERG member) onside with her proposed Brexit
deal.
- Elsewhere, South Korean unemployment unexpectedly tumbled to 3.1% from 4.0%
(median exp. was for a steady 4.0%), representing the lowest level seen since
2013.
- The Westpac consumer confidence reading out of Australia & Japanese BSI survey
provide the highlights of a limited regional docket. Over in the U.S. the
special election in North Carolina's 9th district will garner some interest.
Outside of those matters it looks like we are set for a session of
headline/China watching.
