A: Inflation ex food and energy has declined as expected in August. This is due to the termporary German VAT decrease and the postponement of garnment sales in two of the major eurozone economies in July and August, as well as due to weak consumer demand. The official forecasts do not foresee deflationary risk. It is not sound analysis to take one month's reading to extrapolate a deflationary trend.
