LNG: Adnoc Drops Das LNG Expansion Plan: MEES

LNG

Plans to upgrade and expand Abu Dhabi’s Das LNG export terminal by 0.9m mtpa have been dropped, although plans continue for the 9.6m mtpa Ruwais LNG plant, MEES said.

  • Adnoc has cancelled the LNG2.0 project to expand and modernize its 5.8m mtpa Das LNG export terminal which had been at the pre-Feed/Feed stage.
  • As well as debottlenecking the plant’s three LNG trains to add 0.9m mtpa capacity, the project envisioned their partial electrification and the production of an additional 1.2m mtpa of ethane and 1.1m mtpa of other NGLs.
  • “We have a funnel of exciting opportunities in which we can invest, while at the same time exercising capital discipline. While not proceeding with the LNG2.0 project, we will continue to invest in Das Island, particularly as it remains a key asset in our LNG portfolio,” an Adnoc spokesperson said, cited by MEES.
