LNG: Argentina’s Enarsa Aims to Import 25 LNG Cargoes in 2025: Platts

LNG

Argentina’s Enarsa will bring 25 LNG cargoes in 2025, down from 30 this year, a company source told Platts.

  • “The projection for 2025 estimates 25 LNG shipments,” an anonymous source told Platts. “Of course, this is a projection. It does not imply that due to different circumstances that number will be modified.”
  • An earlier and colder winter starting in May pushed Enarsa to raise imports above previously planned this year.
  • The scaling back for next year comes as local production rises as the Vaca Muerta shale play is developed.
  • Output is up to 150 mcm/d, while domestic demand is around 140 mcm/d.
  • The key for cutting LNG imports is pipeline capacity from Vaca Muerta. A 40 mcm/d pipeline is under construction, with around 22 mcm/d already in operation.
  • The remaining capacity is targeted to come online in 2025.
