LNG: Asia’s LNG Spot Prices Fall on Week: Reuters

LNG

Asian spot LNG prices slightly slipped this week as demand remains tepid and supply ample, Reuters said.

  • The average LNG price for November delivery into North-East Asia was $13/MMBtu, down 10 cents/MMBtu on the week.
  • The slight decline was driven by receding geopolitical tensions and ample LNG supply to Asia.
  • On the supply side, Train 2 at Australia’s Ichthys LNG restarted operations this week after going offline in August.
  • However, sources told Reuters that two production trains at Malaysia’s Bintulu LNG are offline, likely to be trains 7 & 8.
  • Nuclear reactor shutdowns could lead to an increase in upcoming LNG demand in Japan to meet power requirements, Reuters added.
