Germany’s newest LNG import terminal at Mukran has the capacity to offer “immediate” support to Austria’s gas supply following the cutoff of Russian gas to OMV, operator Deutsche ReGas said Nov. 16, cited by Platts.
- From Mukran, gas can be transported "easily and in significant quantities" through the German and Czech gas pipeline networks to Austria, Deutsche ReGas supervisory board chairman Stephan Knabe said.
- Austria’s OMV confirmed on Saturday that Russia had ended gas deliveries at 6am. OMV said that supplies to its customers were stable despite the drop in gas flow from Russia, a drop only announced on Friday.
- The Mukran terminal on the Island of Rugan is comprised of two FSRUs and as a total feedgas capacity of 13.6 bcm/y.
- Mukran’s operations began in September. It is Germany’s only privately-operated LNG import terminal.
- Germany has a total of four FSRUs, with the other two at Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel.
