LNG: Global LNG Imports Rebound 27% in the Week to Sept. 19: BNEF

Global LNG demand rose 27% in the week to Sept. 29 to 8.24m metric tons driven by an increase to Asia, according to BNEF.

  • North Asia imports rose 1.39m metric tons, driven primarily by China and Japan although China deliveries will likely fall during the National Day holidays this week.
  • Northwest Europe and Italy deliveries fell 0.29m tons w/w to the lowest since December 2021, driven by a 0.22m tons drop in supply to the Netherlands.
  • September 1-29 deliveries into mainland China rose 32% y/y while NW Europe and Italy supply was down 13% y/y.
  • Global LNG supply fell by 1% from the previous week to 7.85m tons with a 0.25m tons increase from Qatar offsetting a 0.25m tons decline from the U.S.
  • Qatari supply in Sept. 1-29 was still down 7% y/y despite the recovery from a drop in the previous two weeks.
