LNG: Japanese Utilities LNG Stocks Rebound 22.1% w/w

LNG stockpiles held by Japanese utilities rose 22.1% w/w on Sept. 29 to 1.99m tons from the lowest level since April the previous week, according to data released by the trade ministry.

  • Storage is unchanged from the five year average for the end of September but up 21.3% from 1.64m tons this time last year.
  • The return of temperatures to near normal levels has allowed utilities to refill inventories from long-term contract supply, according to Bloomberg.
  • North Asia LNG imports rose 1.39m metric tons last week, partly driven by a rise of 0.48m tons to Japan, according to BNEF.
