LNG: LNG at Sea at Least 20 Days Rebounds to Early August Levels

The total estimated quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days increased by 7.6% last week to 3.87m tons as of Aug 11, according to Bloomberg estimates.

  • Volumes at sea have recovered from a low of 3.25m tons on Aug 7 back to levels seen at the start of the month to remain well above the previous five year range for the time of year. The five-year seasonal average volume is around 1.86m tons.
  • The estimated volume of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 30 days is relatively unchanged on the week at 1.35m tons compared to 1.33m tons a week earlier.
