LNG
An LNG tanker is in the Suez Canal, heading towards the Red Sea but likely heading to Jordan's Aqaba terminal rather than through the Bab el-Mandeb strait according to ICIS.
- Egypt has tendered to buy several LNG cargoes as it switches back from an exporter to importer. LNG supplies to Egypt would be delivered via pipeline from Jordan's terminal.
- Egypt's own FSRU-import facilities at Ain Sukhna have departed but the country is reportedly considering chartering a new FSRU for the future.
- This suggests a potential longer-lasting shift back towards imports net imports in summer and net exports during the winter.
- No LNG tankers have crossed the Suez Canal since January due to Red Sea attacks.
