Loadshedding Escalates Amid Delays In Returning Generating Units To Service

Eskom says in its latest update that "due to further delays in returning generating units to service, as well as the further failure of 5 generating units today, Stage 5 loadshedding will be implemented from 14:00 today until 05:00 on Tuesday. Thereafter, Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented until further notice."

  • The utility was due to move between Stages 3 & 4 today and between Stages 2 &4 from tomorrow onwards.
  • The recent escalation in loadshedding comes on the back of difficult weather conditions, which boost demand for electricity.
