Lowe And Bullock Prepared Answers To Mock Resignation Questions

RBA

Briefing papers obtained under the Freedom of Information Act include 82 questions that RBA Governor Lowe and Deputy Governor Bullock prepared for ahead of their parliamentary hearings in February this year, as reported by The Australian. One of those questions was to Bullock and asked if she would take over as governor if Lowe was to resign after the RBA review is released. The government hopes it will be published before the May 9 budget.

  • Bullock also prepared to answer what she thought of calls for Lowe to resign.
  • It is widely expected that Treasurer Chalmers will use the RBA review as the pretext not to renew Governor Lowe’s term when it ends in mid-September. Chalmers has said that the government will decide in July. Lowe has stated that he doesn’t intend to resign before the end of his term.
