Malaysian Prime Minister To Deliver Special Address At 15:00 MYT

Malaysian media outlets report that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri will deliver a special address to the nation at 15:00 MYT/08:00 BST. It is expected that it will be related to the dissolution of parliament and the Premier may announce a snap election as soon as today.

  • The Star earlier reported that the dissolution can go ahead in the absence of Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong, if the monarch gave his consent prior to his departure to the United Kingdom on Sunday.
  • The Prime Minister was granted a royal audience on Sunday, just before the King left the country. Parliament is formally dissolved by the monarch, who acts on the advice of the Prime Minister.
