Mann says she is more focused on nominal rates than real in this speech

  • Mann asked why she focuses on nominal rates rather than real rates. She says that inflation rates are her focus. Focusing on expectations the asymmetric firm behaviour if firms' prices are expected to be below the industry average is an important factor. In previous speeches she notes she has talked about real rates. She is now focused on the fear factor of nominal inflation.
  • Mann asked on the ONS' labour market revisions - she says will have to evaluate in the next forecast round for the potential changes to both the demand and supply side.
