Manufacturing Sector Maintains Growth Clip

  • Manufacturing PMI this morning came in ahead of expectations, at 50.9 vs. Exp. 50.0 – broadly maintaining the pace of expansion seen across May at 50.8.
  • Kommersant reports that for the first time since the introduction of Western sanctions, two carriers have formally asked the transport ministry to allow them to return planes to foreign entities. S7 has made the request to send back two Boeing 737-8 aircraft that are not certified in Russia.
  • In an interview with El Mundo, Finland’s foreign minister Pekka Haavisto stated that confidence between Russian and the EU may one day be rebuilt.
  • GDP data later today will likely confirm Q1 GDP grew by 3.5% on a Y/Y basis in the final reading. Money supply data is also due to cross.
