MNI Gilt Week Ahead - Oct 4 2021: Supply issues still in focus

  • Media headlines continue to focus on the supply issues in the UK economy, particularly the shortage at petrol stations.
  • The upcoming week will also see the Conservative Party Conference (which will be watched for any more clues ahead of the Budget), the final print of the services PMI while the BOE's Ramsden and Tenreyro are both due to speak this week.
  • However, it is likely that external events will be bigger drivers for the gilt market this week, particularly the release of the US labour market report on Friday.
  • See the full document for gilt auction previews for the week ahead, QE tracker and BOE purchase analysis, cash flow matrix and issuance calendar.
