Medium Term Permian Output to Rise on ExxonMobil / Pioneer Deal: Kpler

ENERGY

The ExxonMobil deal to purchase Pioneer Natural Resources Company is expected to increase Permian production over the medium term according to Kpler.

  • The takeover makes it the number one shale player in the US, offering flexibility and also lowers the emission intensity of Exxon’s production according to BNEF.
  • Kpler suggest this collaboration will result in lower breakevens to enable additional resource development and better use of technologies in the Permian basin.
  • They anticipate further consolidation in US shale oil gas segments with competition set to intensify driving smaller companies to grow into mid-sized entities.
  • Stable production adjustments are expected in the coming years despite Exxon's potential production flexibility and historical responsiveness to price fluctuations.
