Member States Agree To Re-Open Borders To Fully Vaccinated Travellers

Reports from AFP that, as expected, member state permanent representatives to the EU agreed today that fully vaccinated individuals should be allowed to travel to the EU.

  • Mediterranean EU member states in particular have proved keen to reopen borders in an effort to ensure some form of summer tourist boom, with the UK being seen as a key source of inbound tourism.
  • However, the gov't policy in the UK on international travel remains muddled, with a traffic light system in place (only Portugal in the EU qualifies as a non-quarantine 'green country' at present) but mixed messages on whether individuals can or should travel to amber nations, such as Spain, France, Italy, and Greece.
