Mexican crude exports have bounced back in May after a number of issues at Pemex refineries.

  • Crude exports rose to about 838,000 b/d so far in May, 18% higher than full-month April according to Kpler data.
  • Pemex’s Tula refinery was hit by a power outage May 13. Argus sources said the restart could take two weeks.
  • There have been a number of reports of crude cargoes offered due to the issues.
  • Fires at Salina Cruz and Minatitlan refineries in late April could also have had an impact as well as numerous delays at the new 340,000 bpd Dos Bocas facility.
