MEXICO: AMLO Holds Final Daily Press Conference, August Net Outstanding Loans

  • President AMLO will hold his last daily press conference today, ahead of Claudia Sheinbaum’s inauguration tomorrow. AMLO will also host a lunch for foreign leaders visiting the country for the inauguration. Following the news on Friday that Deputy Finance Minister Gabriel Yorio will leave his post, government officials have said that Edgar Amador, a former Mexico City official will take over the role.
  • On the data front, net outstanding loans figures for August are due at 1600BST(1100ET). Later this week, July gross fixed investment data are expected on Wednesday, alongside latest manufacturing PMI figures and remittances data. Banxico will also publish its latest economist survey on Wednesday.

  • In other news, the Economy Ministry has said that it has registered 209 new planned foreign investments in the country during the first nine months of the year, worth $64.7bn. 46% of these investments came from the US and 56% into the manufacturing sector.
