Mexico Oil Production Expected around 1.9mb/d Though 2024

Petroleum production in Mexico has remained stable since 2019 after years of decline and is to remain relatively flat around 1.9mb/d through 2024 according to EIA.

  • The country’s petroleum consumption was also around 1.9mb/d in 2022 according to the STEO.
  • Mexico’s proven oil reserves have fallen from above 10bn barrels in 2014 according to International Energy Statistics to slightly below 6.0bn barrels in 2023 according to the Oil and Gas Journal.
  • None of the proven reserves are in deepwater but the Mexican government has plans to capitalise on deep-sea reserves with future development plans.
