Mexico Will Stop Exporting Oil When Tabasco Refinery is at Full Capacity: Sheinbaum

  • Mexico News Daily reports President Sheinbaum cited her predecessor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s plan to refine in Mexico all the oil that is produced in Mexico, and to reach fuel self-sufficiency.
  • She pointed to the construction of the Olmeca refinery on the Tabasco coast and upgrades to Pemex’ other refineries as progress toward that goal. Olmeca is finished but has a problem “with crude, problems of salinization.”
  • When it reaches full capacity of 340k b/d, “oil won’t be exported, it will all be for internal consumption.”
