MFP & Pheu Thai Head For Last-Minute Talks On House Speaker Position

THAILAND

Thai Enquirer reports that Padipat Suntiphada will be the candidate of the Move Forward Party (MFP) for the House Speaker position as the MFP and Pheu Thai remain at loggerheads over who should appoint parliament's next presiding officer.

  • The outlet says that Padipat Suntiphada candidacy is yet to be confirmed by the party, while other names mentioned in local media are Nattawut Buaprathum, Teerajchai Phunthumas and Parit Wacharasindhu.
  • Pheu Thai leader Chonlanan Srikaew said that the party will insist that it should get the House Speaker position alongside 14 ministerial and deputy ministerial seats. Chonlanan is reportedly one of Pheu Thai's candidates to become House Speaker.
