UK: Minister of State for Trade Policy Conor Burns MP has resigned following the
release of a Parliamentary Standards Committee report that found he had
suggested he would seek to use parliamentary privilege to secure a loan for his
father and intimidate a member of the public. 
- Burns is a long-term supporter of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, having served
as Johnson's Parliamentary Private Secretary during his time as Foreign
Secretary. 
- Burns' resignation comes at an inopportune time for the gov't given the first
round of trade talks with the US are due to start tomorrow.
