MNI: A RTRS interview with U.S. Pres Trump hit in late U.S. trade & triggered
USD weakness and a renewed, modest, bid in Tsys. Trump noted that he disagrees
with Fed re: rate hikes & that he is "not thrilled" with Chair Powell. When
asked if he believes that the Fed should be independent, he said he believes in
"what's good for the country" adding "I should be given some help by the Fed."
Trump also noted that he will criticise the Fed if it continues to raise rates.
- Trump stated that China is manipulating the CNY, and that Europeans are
manipulating the euro as well. He doesn't "anticipate much" from China trade
talks in Washington later this week, and believes that there is no time frame"
for ending the China trade dispute.
- He also said that he would considering lifting U.S. sanctions on Russia if
Moscow were to take steps to work with the united states on issues like Syria &
Ukraine. Trump stated that there has been no outreach to Iran whatsoever over
possible talks. Trump said "there will be no concessions" with Turkey over
pastor Brunson, after he previously thought he had a deal with Erodgan to gain
the freedom of the pastor.
