MNI ANALYSIS: Divining the Dollar -USD.......>

DOLLAR
DOLLAR: MNI ANALYSIS: Divining the Dollar
-USD dislocated from rates and equities well before last week's equity sell-off,
leaving few leading indicators with which to divine the dollar
-Currency options market positioning near most USD positive levels of the year
-USD sentiment appears more closely tied to international risks rather than
domestic economics
Similarly to rates markets, the USD index loosened its ties with major indices
(both the S&P 500 and the Russell 2000). Conversely, after being largely
uncorrelated at the end of 2017, the USD index is now more closely allied with
emerging market and high yield bond funds, with a negative correlation emerging
and strengthening throughout 2018.
