Anna Hughes has been appointed the chief executive of the Australian Office of Financial Management, replacing 11-year veteran Rob Nicholl.

Hughes, who is currently South Australia's Deputy Under Treasurer, becomes the first woman to lead the organisation in its 23-year history, said Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers. She will begin her new role on January 16, 2023.
