MNI BRIEF: Urea Aqueous Drop From China Hits South Korea Econ

(MNI) Tokyo

South Korea's manufacturing recovery faces a new supply chain challenge because imports of the chemical precursor solution urea aqueous made in China are down sharply after power shortages knocked back production, threatening a bottleneck, a person who is familiar with South Korea economy said.

The shortage of the solution in South Korea may weigh on the Bank of Korea's outlook when it releases its latest policy statement on Thursday, the source said, even under an otherwise upbeat baseline scenario of global demand for semiconductors and recovering private consumption.
