MNI BRIEF: Bottlenecks, Job Market Key To Inflation - Shin

The effect on inflation of supply bottlenecks produced by ‘bullwhip’ demand will depend on labour developments, Hyun Song Shin from the Bank of International Settlements said in a speech Thursday.

These show strong cross-border similarities, but also important differences. In the US it has become noticeably more difficult to match workers with jobs than before the pandemic, he noted, but the same cannot be said of the eurozone and Japan.
