MNI BRIEF: Brazil's Central Bank Announces 3 New Board Members
MNI (BRASILIA) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced Friday the nomination of Nilton David, Izabela Correa and Gilneu Vivan to the board of the Central Bank of Brazil.
Nilton David will succeed Gabriel Galipolo as deputy governor for monetary policy. Galípolo, recently approved by the Senate, will assume the role of central bank governor starting Jan. 1.
David, currently head of treasury operations at Bradesco, has experience in the financial sector and holds a bachelor’s degree in production engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of Sao Paulo (USP).
Correa is set to replace Carolina de Assis Barros as deputy governor for institutional relations, citizenship, and conduct supervision, while Vivan will take over from Otávio Damaso as deputy governor for regulation. Both outgoing officials will complete their terms on December 31. Correa has served at the central bank since 2006, and Vivan since 1994.
