MNI BRIEF: Gender Balance Affects MonPol Focus - OeNB's Kolm

Female central bankers are more likely to prioritise output and employment concerns during monetary policy deliberations than their male counterparts, who tend to focus on price stability and inflation, Barbara Kolm, vice president of the Austrian National Bank said in a speech Thursday, adding that there should be "little doubt that (increased) female participation can exercise a decisive effect on central bank policies."

"Without gender parity," OeNB governor Robert Holzmann told ECB president Christine Lagarde and attendees of the Gender, Money and Finance conference, "we may not only leave a large part of the global talent pool untapped, but we also risk foregoing significant improvements in the quality of economic policy decisions."
