MNI BRIEF: China Lacking Meaningful Opening - Britcham

MNI (Beijing)

British firms in China have not seen a "meaningful opening up" despite government efforts aimed at boosting foreign business environment, according to the British Chamber of Commerce annual sentiment survey published Wednesday.

The lobby group recognised progress in intellectual property rights and legal support, but noted profit margin and trade barrier concerns remained.

Businesses were generally pessimistic on the business environment outlook, the report added.

China’s trade should recover to pre-pandemic trends of single digit growth in 2024 driven by export demand for new manufactured goods, MNI reported recently. (See: MNI INTERVIEW: China Exports To Grow In 2024)
