MNI BRIEF: China Passenger Car Sales Up In November Y/Y
MNI (BEIJING) - China sold 2.4 million passenger cars in November, up 16.5% y/y and 7.1% m/m, with new electric vehicles accounting for 52.3% of sales, according to data released by the Passenger Car Association on Monday.
From January to November 20.2 million vehicles were sold, up 4.7% y/y, the Association noted, with conventional fuel vehicles totalling 10.6 million, down 15% y/y. Volume was boosted in recent months by the scrappage and replacement policies, as well as promotions during the double-eleven shopping festival and Guangzhou auto show, the Association said in a statement.
The People's Bank of China is likely to ease monetary policy further in 2025 as inflation remains weak, introducing new tools to support real estate, local-government debt restructuring and bank recapitalisation in line with government fiscal policy, a former PBOC official recently told MNI.
