MNI BRIEF: China Urges Removal Of All Additional Tariffs By US

China noted the recent comments from the U.S. that suggest a consideration of lifting the additional tariffs imposed on Chinese goods since start of the 2018 trade war, and Beijing still aims for the cancellation of all additional tariffs, Shu Jueting, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Commerce, said at a briefing on Thursday.

“Removing all the additional tariffs on Chinese goods will benefit both China and the U.S., and it is in the interests of businesses and consumers in the context of high global inflation,” said Shu, when asked to comment U.S. officials’ speaking of likely removing tariffs on some daily necessities and bicycles but keeping those on steel and aluminum.
