MNI BRIEF: China Warehousing Index Down In October
MNI (BEIJING) - China’s Warehousing Index reached 49.4 in October, down 0.4 percentage points from September, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP), said on Tuesday.
October’s index remained under the expansion mark of 50, indicating insufficient demand for warehousing business, said Yang Biao, deputy general manager at China National Reserves Corporation, a state firm that assists in managing the index, in this month's report.
The China Warehousing Index reflects the operation of the warehousing industry and the supply and demand situation of major commodities in the domestic market, the report noted.
China’s goods import volume growth rate is expected to increase in 2025 closer to Asia's anticipated 5.1% y/y rise as government efforts to boost the economy and domestic demand take effect, with export quantities set to cool, the World Trade Organisation’s chief economist recently told MNI.
