MNI BRIEF: Countries Should Pursue Cooling Ukraine Crisis-MOFCOM

All parties concerned should try to promote talks to help cool down, not heat up the Ukraine crisis, said Shu Jueting, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Commerce at a Thursday briefing when asked to comment on the proposed price cap on Russian oil.

China believes this issue is very complicated, said Shu, confirming that the U.S. side had introduced the idea of the oil price cap during the video call between Vice Premier Liu He and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen last week.

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden presented the idea to the rest of the G7 leaders and his counterparts agreed to look at how to do it.
