MNI BRIEF: ECB Backs Buch As Enria's SSM Replacement
Bundesbank vice president ECB's nomination to take over helm at SSM in 2024.
The ECB’s Governing Council has nominated Bundesbank’s vice president Claudia Buch fto be the new chair of the Supervisory Board, replacing Andrea Enria, a press release from the Frankfurt-based central bank said Wednesday.
Buch’s nomination needs the formal approval of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. Acceptance will see he replace Enria as head of the SSM on January 1st 2024.
The Governing Council chose Buch over Bank of Spain deputy governor Margarita Delgado, despite the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs showing a preference for Delgado in July following preliminary hearings and could be seen as a snub in Madrid.
