The ECB's Governing Council did not discuss interest rate cuts at the March policy meeting, President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday, but she added that policy makers are "just beginning to discuss the dialling back of our restrictive stance."

Policymakers left interest rates unchanged at the March meeting, despite lowering both growth and inflation projections. However, comments from Lagarde in the post-meeting press conference suggest the Governing Council is edging towards a discussion on rate cuts, possibly in June when "a lot more" data is available.
