MNI BRIEF:ECB 'Obviously' To Take EU Fiscal Plans Into Account
MNI (LONDON) - Restrictive future EU fiscal policies across the euro zone over the next few years will obviously be a factor for the ECB to consider when it assesses inflation pressures, a senior EU official said Tuesday.
Euro Area finance ministers and the European Central Bank are due to discuss the zone's policy mix at a meeting in Brussels on Monday and the official said that states' fiscal plans would "obviously" have implications to be discussed in those talks.
"The ECB will no doubt take into account and doesn't need to be told to take into account the future fiscal path in its assessment of inflation pressures," the official said. "Clearly fiscal policies will be a factor in the sense that they are not contributing as much in upholding demand..."
