MNI BRIEF: ECB To Stress Test Almost 100 Banks In 2023
ECB will test bank's representing 75% of the euro area's banking assets as part of 2023 tests.
A total of 99 banks from across the eurozone will be examined as part of the 2023 European Banking Authority-led stress test, the European Central Bank said Tuesday.
The ECB will examine 57 of euro area’s largest banks as part of regular EU-wide stress test, alongside a parallel stress test for 42 directly supervised banks outside the EBA sample, testing a total of 99 directly supervised banks. E
Frankfurt-based supervisors will examine the 57 euro area’ banks, which were selected to cover broadly 75% of the zone’s banking assets, as part of the 2023 EU-wide stress test coordinated by the European Banking Authority (EBA). In parallel, the ECB will conduct its own stress test for another 42 medium-sized banks that are not included in the EBA-led stress test sample due to their smaller size.
