Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy said Tuesday there is very “broad agreement” in the ECB Governing Council for a rate cut in the spring, pointing out the season lasts until June 21.
Villeroy told newspaper Le Figaro the pace of rate cuts is now the “most important question” for the ECB.
“This will indeed now be the most important question. How fast will we drop and to what 'landing zone'?" he said. “We will have to remain open and pragmatic about the pace, without tying our hands with the past excesses of forward guidance.” (See MNI INTERVIEW: June Cut Not Done Deal-ECB's Holzmann)
