MNI BRIEF: Economy Recovering But Challenges Remain - NBS

China’s economy will continue its upward recovery into 2024, but external uncertainties and insufficient domestic demand will challenge policymakers, said Liu Aihua, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Liu noted Q4 economic data will benefit from last year’s low base effect and policymakers will need more effort to sustain the economic recovery in future. China had recently experienced uneven PMI results due to seasonal factors alongside the uneven nature of the recovery and low demand for manufacturing, Liu added.
