MNI BRIEF: Eurogroup Focused On Swift RRF Deployment: Offic'l

BRUSSELS (MNI)

The main focus of EU policymakers should be on the rapid deployment of the RRF and not moves to further expand its fiscal stimulus efforts, an EU source told MNI.

"Most important thing is to focus on deploying the RRF as quickly as possible and preparing National recovery Plans of sufficient ambition and in a speedy manner," the source said, noting that any delays would not be helpful.

The official described the EU's RRF/Next Generation recovery initiatives as "a unique, one-off endeavour" and called on member states to ratify the Own Resources legislation, which underpins the financing of the RRF as soon as possible. So far only 17 out of 27 member states have ratified, with The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Poland yet to approve.
