MNI BRIEF: Eurozone Oct Consumer Inflation Expectations Steady

Euro area consumer price inflation expectations were unchanged in October, with both the 12-month ahead and three-year ahead readings unchanged on the previous period.

Consumers saw inflation 12 months ahead at 4.0%, unchanged on last month, but up from 3.5% as recently as August. The longer-term three-year reading saw prices at 2.5%, unchanged for a third consecutive month.

The October survey was completed before Eurostat released data showing annual inflation fell to 2.9% that month. It fell further to 2.4% in November. (See MNI SOURCES: Market Pricing For Cut Prompts ECB Jawboning)
