MNI BRIEF: Fed's Daly Sees A Couple More Rate Hikes This Year

The Federal Reserve likely needs to raise interest rates a couple more times this year to make sure inflation gets under control, San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly said Monday.

Inflation remains the top risk amid a strong job market and continued economic growth, she said during a Brookings Institute talk. “We are likely to need a couple more rate hikes over the course of this year” to slow inflation, Daly said. “The risks of doing too little are outweighing the risks of doing too much. But that gap is getting narrower” and “the decisions are getting harder."
