MNI BRIEF: Fed's Bullard Optimistic on Second Half Rebound

(MNI)

The U.S. economy may post a strong rebound in the second half of 2021 because supportive fiscal and monetary policy have allowed many consumers to save money despite the downturn, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said Wednesday.

"There are plenty of resources in the economy to fund a consumption boom as we go through the summer and the fall," Bullard told a webinar.

St. Louis Fed Vice President David Andolfatto echoed that optimism about the economy's prospects, and sounded the alarm about the prospect of inflation in an interview with MNI.
