MNI BRIEF: German Business More Cautious In Labour Market: Ifo

LONDON (MNI)

Businesses across Germany are becoming more cautious on hiring, with the latest 'hard' lockdown making many reluctant to hire at present, a survey by the Ifo Institute published Wednesday showed. The Ifo Employment Barometer fell to 95.5 in December, down2.2 points on the November reading.

Service providers have cut back hiring plans and the manufacturing sector sees plans largely unchanged. However, the IT and construction sectors are still hiring, albeit at a slower pace than in recent months.
