Hong Kong’s consumer price index rose by 1.8% y/y in November, the same pace as recorded in October, according to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) on Tuesday.

Most major CPI components remained subdued, with housing and durable goods declining by 0.1% and 1.6% respectively, offset by notable increases in food and Electricity, and gas and water, which rose 3.5 % and 14.3% respectively.

The government said the inflation outlook in the near term remains moderate despite high import prices, which will be offset by mild domestic cost pressures.
