MNI BRIEF: Inflation, Growth Seen Below Projections-de Guindos

(MNI) Brussels

Euro zone inflation will be seen as slightly lower and the growth outlook weaker than the ECB forecast in December, ECB Vice President Luis de Guindos said in an interview published Wednesday.

Asked when inflation would reach the bank’s 2% target, Guindos noted this was forecast to be in the second half of 2025, according to the latest forecasts, but added that “…inflation figures have mostly brought positive surprises recently. I think that inflation will be slightly lower than we have predicted,” he said.

The ECB will release its next set of forecasts following its Governing Council meeting in March. (MNI SOURCES: "Biggest Minority" Favours ECB June Cut)
